Coverage: WarCraft III Cologne Finals 2009 >>




The WarCraft Regional Finals in the Media Park of Cologne, Germany took place 26th to 28th of June. StarcraftWire staff members grrrrr and Hawks911 were sent out to collect all info they could about SrarCraft II. Besides the high-Level WarCraft 3 and WoW Action, all of the attendees were able to play StarCraft II. grrrrr and Hawks911 managed to grab some exclusive coverage for StarcraftWire.net.

There were 10 PCs with StarCraft II, and also a small 1on1 tournament with a Blizzard T-shirt as first prize. To give you a feeling of the StarCraft II area you might want to watch our small (shakycam, sorry) walk-around video at the end of this coverage page.

It seemed to be an April build, and Blizzard confirmed to Leord in Irvine last week that the build was older, but the new Infestor and Spine Crawler models were already implemented. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to capture any in game videos or screenshots. Nevertheless we wanted to provide you with the best coverage possible and we'll later bring you some special articles, focusing on unseen units, mostly from the late game. Blizzard is keeping the late game and it’s units closed like a treasure chest, and we have so far been unable to witness late game units in action in any of the three released Battle Reports. Stay tuned as we release some game-experience special about:

Protoss, including the Carrier, Void Ray, Phoenix, Archon and Mothership in action.

After this the Terrans will have their turn featuring some Medivac Dropship, Battle Cruiser, Thor, Ghost and Viking.

Last will be the Zerg with their new Brood Lord, Infestor, and Spine Crawler.
