With the Blizzard World Wide Invitational only a few days away, Blizzard have upped a teaser on the official website with the above image. What the image means, is for as yet unclear, what it suggests a lot clearer: this WWI might have something awesome for all of us! Any idea what the above image could be from?
The image name is “Ice1.jpg”, meaning there will probably be more icy images to come.
We know that Blizzard have never made any teasers for any expansions in the past, and Wrath of the Lich King is definitely “old” enough not to warrant a teaser. Still, the colour palette matches it pretty good.
It’s not the Diablo Worldstone, as that is red, but there are red hints in the ice, looking like stone shards or runes…
Has anyone seen this design somewhere?

Update:
Maticus over at WorldofWar.net writes:
To me, that’s clearly a Lich King reference, what with the rune and all.
It’s not entirely unlike the Unholy Rune for the Death Knights, as seen below.
And could this be the Frost Rune?
Update 2:
WorldofWar.net seems to have solved the Splash Screen mystery. No Diablo 3 or StarCraft MMO hints, but rather “just” another Lich King reference.
Update 3:
Wuushu of StarCraftWire.net also add another piece to the puzzle.
The runes that are possible going to form a pentagram, the continuation of Diablo 2X area names and more small clues still suggest a Diablo title I think.
The following words are still optional:
- World (some world/mmo thing)
- Dashow (this person has done quite a bit of art in the past for Blizzard including D2).
Its also possible that the numbers do not represent a word or even characters as is suggested by the WWI combination. I could still be anything.
