| When a player buys the StarCraft II box at retail, they will have the ability to play on the new Battle.net for free. For those listening to the latest Activision Blizzard conference call, Mike Morhaime also mentions it there as well. |

| Making sure players of all levels are able to have a fun multiplayer experience is a top priority for us. More info regarding this effort will be revealed in conjunction with info on Battle.net. For now, know that if you don't have 300 APM...it’s quite OK. We've got plans to keep online play fun and challenging at the same time, while also making the atmosphere feel less intimidating for the vast majority of us who aren’t pro-level players. | ||
I am fairly certain you are not right. I have met several of the blizzard ppl, and they have consistently declined to give a straight answer. They have said very fuzzy ones, which lead to this rumour… some of them are pretty clear if you just read between the lined.
Behind the words you could clearly read:
“No fees, promise, but I am gagged by PR, so please ask something else”
I dunno I remember a blue saying something like “Battle.net will continue to be free to use but we are going to be monetizing some features, we sort of have to.”
probably not exact quote but same idea.

If i remember right, this was already mentioned by a blue back at the old forums pretty early on.
