Background
Cloaking Field is an ability that cloaks nearby friendly units and/or structures, rendering them invisible to the enemy. Destroying the caster with this skill, or bringing a detector, will reveal the cloaked units.
[edit] StarCraft I Cloaking Field
Cloaking Field is a passive ability of the Protoss Arbiter that allows it to cloak nearby friendly units in a short radius. This skill does not require energy to maintain and the use of an enemy detector will reveal the units.
Since the Arbiter must be anchored firmly in space-time to safely generate such a large field, it is immune to the effects and remains visible, even when surrounded by the field of another Arbiter.

StarCraft II Cloaking Field
Cloaking Field is an activated ability for the Protoss Mothership that will render all nearby friendly units and structures invisible to an enemy without a detector. This field is not considered passive so it is rumored to drain energy the longer it is activated.
