Background
Hallucination is a skill that creates duplicate copies of a targeted unit. These copies will have a blue tint when viewed by the controlling player, but will look like normal units to everyone else. These copies can attack but will not inflict any damage and cannot cast spells or create other units, such as Interceptors for a hallucinated Carrier.
StarCraft II Hallucination
Hallucination is available to the Protoss Sentry and is assumed to be researched from the Cybernetics Core. The mechanic behind this skill has changed since the original StarCraft, instead the Sentry will now receive a secondary UI that is displayed when Hallucination is cast, similar to what the Probes use to warp in a building. A unit can then be selected from this list to hallucinate even if the Protoss player does not yet have the tech to warp them in. The number of hallucinated units will depend on the base cost of the unit being hallucinated. For example, four Probes may appear with each casting as opposed to only one Colossus.
Dark Templars, Observers and Carriers cannot be hallucinated.
StarCraft I Hallucination
Hallucination, for the Protoss High Templar, costs 150 Minerals 150 Gas to research from the Templar Archives and can be cast on both ally and enemy units.
All hallucinated units take double damage from all attacks and last about 180 seconds. They can be destroyed before the timer expires by taking too much damage or if they are hit by other spells, such as Psi Storm or EMP Shockwave.
