The structure of StarCraftWiki is important, and when making new articles, or uploading images, make sure that you add it to the right categories. You might also want to make sure that you are using the right boilerplate if one is available.

Structure

The structure of the category system in StarCraftWiki is important to be able to easily sort and navigate through articles. It's vital to make sure that your articles end up in the right category, and that your categories are sorted in to the right structure. As any article or category can belong to any article or category, some of these can exist in multiple places. That is fine, as long as the structure in itself is logical.

"(*)" Means that a category appears in more than one other superior category.

Main Category - Category:Root

All categories should be added to different categories and eventually they should all link through to Category:Root, the main category.

Content Category - Category:Content

All articles with content should be added to Category:Content, the main category for content. This is the "main" category of articles in the wiki, which is supposed to be about content. Other categories are used to help provide content efficiently.

Basics - Category:Basics

• Category:Basics - All "basics" for the StarCraft game and world. Feature of StarCraftWiki sort of. Only add articles here (as in Characters, not Category:Characters.

Gameplay - Category:Gameplay

• Category:Gameplay - StarCraft 1 and StarCraft 2 specific info.
  • Category:Races - List of playable races in StarCraft I and StarCraft II. (*)
    • Category:Protoss - All info about the Protoss. (*)
      • Category:Protoss abilities - All Protoss abilities.
        • Category:Protoss abilities (StarCraft I) - All Protoss abilities in SC1.
        • Category:Protoss abilities (StarCraft II) - All Protoss abilities in SC2
      • Category:Protoss buildings - All Protoss buildings.
        • Category:Protoss buildings (StarCraft I) - All Protoss buildings in SC1.
        • Category:Protoss buildings (StarCraft II) - All Protoss buildings in SC2.
      • Category:Protoss heroes - All Protoss heroes.
        • Category:Protoss heroes (StarCraft I) - All Protoss heroes in SC1.

  • Category:Races - List of playable races in StarCraft I and StarCraft II. (*)
    • Category:Protoss - All info about the Protoss. (*)
      • Category:Protoss technology - All Protoss technology. Lore-related.
    • Category:Terran - All info about the Terran. (*)
      • Category:Terran technology - All Terran technology. Lore-related.
    • Category:Zerg - All info about the Zerg. (*)
  • Category:Technology - List of different technologies and genetic advances in the world of StarCraft.

Community - Category:Community

• Category:Community - Articles relating too the community or made by it.

Games - Category:Games

• Category:Games - Articles relating to other games.

Sources - Category:Sources

All types of StarCraft information sources. Games, books, graphic novels, or similar products should be added to Category:Sources, the main sources category.

SCraftWiki - Category:SCraftWiki

All articles used by SCraftWiki or its contributors should be added to Category:SCraftWiki, the main SCraftWiki category.

Images - Category:Images

All image categories should be added to Category:Images, the main image category.

Some of these categories might go unused for a long time, but if the need arises, use these.
