Zerg advance including several Infestors
The infestor is the new offensive caster of the swarm. It shares many characteristics with the Defiler and is likely a genetic offshoot of its predecessor. In addition to its similarities to the defiler this unit also has many new evolutions that are sure to instil fear into the enemies of the swarm. The Infestor does not possess any direct attacks, instead it uses its ability to produce terrifying organisms and bio-chemicals to wreak havoc and destruction upon its opponents.

Game Unit

The Infestor model has changed since the alpha, and its new appearance has been revealed on official snapshots released May 24, 2009.

Its primary offensive ability is Disease. This aoe damage ability is very similar to the defiler's Plague and is absolutely devastating against groups of weaker units.

Its second ability is called Neural Parasite, Target unit is controlled by the Infestor until one of them dies, or the Infestor relinquishes control. The Infestor cannot take any other action while controlling an enemy unit. Air units are immune. Channeled ability. While under this effect, the enemy unit can be used to attack its allies, cast spells on them, or even build structures for the zerg force. In addition to these formidable abilities, the infestor can also Spawn Infested Marines to provide itself with cover or anti-air support. As if this isn't enough, this new strain of zerg caster is able to move under the ground while burrowed, and even cast its abilities while concealed beneath the ground, making it a great unit for surprise attacks and worker raids.
