The Lair is a Zerg structure that's upgraded from a Hatchery to enable more Zerg "technologies" during gameplay.

Starcraft II

Background

The Lair allows the evolution of additional advanced upgrades and buildings. Like the Hatchery, it also spawns all Zerg units by producing Larva, and receives gathered resources from Drones. The Lair enables the morphing of Overlord into an Overseer.


The Lair also enables the morphing of a Drone into four advanced Zerg structures such as the Hydralisk Den, the Infestation Pit, the Spire, and the Nydus Network. The Lair also enables the morphing of Larva into a Hydralisk, Infestor, Mutalisk, or a Corruptor when their respective structures are produced.
