Marauder

The Marauder is a new Terran infantry unit that bears a lot of resemblance to the old Firebat. It is a big "Marine" type unit that fires a Concussion Grenade that slows the movement speed of enemies.

The Firebats of the Brood War were most successfull, and their gear was subsequently iterated upon and improved. Their CMC armour was rebuilt to a significantly larger size to carry more plasma, and this also increased their efficiency, as well as danger to friendly Marines and other infantry.

Sometime after the war, they were experimented with, and armament interchanged on some of the CMC suits. Instead of huge plasma tanks that had the potential to blow up a whole squadron on the field, they changed the built-in weapons to a large array of Concussion Grenades, that both packs an explosive punch efficient against well armored opponents as well as deliberately knocking out any steering systems out of mechanical units, or just smack biological units silly, slowing their movement speed significantly. The impact is designed to hamper any form of opponent's ability to move fast.

The Marauder's primary role is to offer infantry support for the more damaging Terran units.

The Marauder's concussion grenades deal splash damage, with a bonus against Armored units, and have the ability to slow the movement speed of biological enemy units by a set percentage. This slow-down attack is extremely effective against the Zerg and can provide the necessary time needed for allies to take down an oncoming force.

Because the Marauders are able to be built at a Barracks with a Tech Lab, they are considered formidable early support units, able to pick off units of a weaker early game army. A few Marauders in a group can quite easily kite a Zealot without the Charge upgrade with relatively little micromanagement.
