Game Building

StarCraft 2 Building

The StarCraft II Nexus has been granted actual use as opposed to the original game. Now the Nexus can both use Chrono Boost to enhance production as well as summoning the massive Mothership.

Abilities

  • Chrono Boost - Increases production speed of one friendly building. Can be cast on the Nexus itself to make Probes faster.

Production

The Nexus summons in the following units:

Upgrades

The Nexus will benefit from the following upgrades:

Upgrade Used Mineral Cost Gas Cost Research Time Researched At Icon
Plasma Shields 200 Image:Mineral_SC1.png 200 Image:Vespene_SC1_Protoss.png 140 Image:Build_time_icon.png Forge Protoss Plasma Shields

The Plasma Shields Upgrade enhances the armor rating of all Protoss units and buildings. It can be researched above level one for an additional cost. For more information see: Plasma Shields.

Development

The role of the Nexus in StarCraft II is almost identical to its role in Starcraft I, the main difference being it is now able to "build" (warp, actually) the Protoss Mothership in addition to worker units. The Chrono Boost is also an interesting new macro mechanic that enhances gameplay.

Trivia

The original plans for making the Mothership was that the Nexus would turn in to a Mothership. For gameplay reasons, this was later changed, so now the Nexus just summons it.
