The types of resources used in StarCraft and StarCraft II in order to build structures and produce units are minerals and gas. Minerals are used for all types of structures and buildings, while gas is only needed for the more technologically advanced builds. All of the races (Protoss, Terran and Zerg) needs and/or minerals and gas for production.
