Samir Duran

Samir Duran is a shadowy figure, who claims he has many names. During the Brood War, he served under Admiral Gerard DuGalle, commander of the UED forces at the rank of Lieutenant. Shortly after the death of Alexei Stukov, he betrayed the UED and joined Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm. After the new Overmind has been killed by Kerrigan, Duran had disappeared. He was travelling through space seeding the Hybrid. When Zeratul had find out his deeds, and confronted him directly, Duran told him that he had many names over millenia and was serving a "far greater power" than Kerrigan.

Duran was launching his offensive against the Terran Dominion base of Boralis on the planet Braxis at the time the UED Captain was tasked with destroying the Dominion's command center. Duran offered help in achieving that goal, and was recruited into the ranks of the United Earth Directorate forces by Admiral DuGalle.

Lieutenant Duran took part in the operation to destroy the Psi Disrupter, however, the UED forces have spotted four Zerg Hive Clusters in that area. Instead of destroying the Psi Disrupter, he focused on dispatching the Zerg. After neutralizing the Zerg Broods, Lieutenant moved on to the former task, only to be stopped by Stukov's forces, and ordered back to base.

Samir Duran then took part in the mission to chase down and intercept Emperor Arcturus Mengsk I and Jim Raynor on the Protoss homeworld of Aiur. He disobeyed a direct order from Vice Admiral Stukov to reinforce his troops and help him capture the fugitives, because he had arrived with a massive Zerg swarm, allowing for both Mengsk and Raynor to escape through the Warp Gate and destroy it behind them.

Then Duran convinced Admiral DuGalle that Vice Admiral Stukov has betrayed him due to insubordination. Duran claimed Stukov has built his own Psi Disrupter on Braxis, when he was clearly ordered to destroy the one on Tarsonis and not replicate it. The Admiral agreed, and sent Captain with a mission to terminate the Vice Admiral. Then Duran began actively supporting Kerrigan and the Zerg.

[edit] Siding with Kerrigan

Duran has helped the Queen of Blades along with the Cerebrate to regain control of her Fortress on Tarsonis, shortly after UED has taken control of the new Overmind. After that he provided the Cerebrate with tactical information up until the siege of Talematros, where he planted the explosive charges himself to overload the pylon cluster, providing cover for the Zerg Swarm to capture Raszagal. He has not been heard from since the destruction of the Overmind, however, Zeratul had found him seeding the Hybrid on a dark moon, sometime after the destruction of the Protoss encampment on Char and killing Raszagal. He has not returned to Kerrigan since then.
