The WarCraft III World Editor is a powerful tool that allows users to manipulate almost every aspect of the WarCraft III game. It allow users to create of single-player, campaign, and multi-player maps. The editor is 'virtually unchanged' from the editor that Blizzard's level designers used to create maps and campaigns for the original game. The editor includes a powerful suite of modules for creating custom maps, including Terrain, Trigger, Object, Sound, Campaign, and AI editors, and Object and Import Managers.

While there is not an official handbook for the World Editor, the World Editor comes with a Help Guide that discusses the basic elements and what features are included.
