Warp-beacon

From The StarCraft 2 Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Protoss Warp-beacons (also known as "Micro-beacons") are planted by Probes to provide the teleport matrices with an anchor and entry point for a special warp gate that teleports fully functional buildings from distant planets once Psionic Matrix has been established. In the time before Brood War, the only source of warped in buildings was Aiur, the Protoss home planet.

When a building is being warped in, its physical mass is only partially existing at that location. Dealing damage to the warp field will cause damage to the building, which becomes apparent when the warp is complete, and sustained damages are visible. If enough raw force is applied to a warp field, it will collapse, consuming the building and all resources used to initiate the warp field.

With a similar progression to the physical transportation of the buildings, the natural shields of the building will immediately start regenerating, and increase throughout the warp-in.

Gameplay

Main article: Building

Dealing fatal damage to a building in warp-in will destroy it, but leave no debris. Resources spent to initiate the warp are lost. If the warp-in is cancelled before it has received fatal damage, most resources are returned as normal when cancelling.

Once a Probe has started a warp-in, it can be left on its own until it is done.
